Parapho vs DocuSign: pricing, features and which to choose
Parapho vs DocuSign compared: per-seat vs flat pricing, envelope caps, bulk send, HIPAA, API costs and security, with what a 20-person team pays a year.
DocuSign is the best-known name in e-signatures, and for many small teams it's also the most expensive line on the software bill. Parapho does the same core job (send a document, collect signatures in order, get back a sealed PDF with an audit trail) for a flat price with no per-seat fees. This comparison covers what each one costs, what's included where, and when DocuSign is still worth paying for.
Prices are list prices in USD from each company's public pricing page, checked on November 1, 2026, before tax. DocuSign figures are for annual plans billed monthly, the default on its pricing page. Vendors change prices, so check before you buy.

What a team actually pays
DocuSign's price is per user, so the bill grows every time someone new needs to send documents. And the features most small businesses end up wanting (bulk send and web forms) are on Business Pro, not Standard. Here's a year's cost for three team sizes:
| People who send documents | DocuSign Standard | DocuSign Business Pro | Parapho |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $360 a year | $540 a year | $30 a year (Solo) |
| 5 | $1,800 a year | $2,700 a year | $150 a year (Team) |
| 20 | $7,200 a year | $10,800 a year | $150 a year (Team) |
DocuSign advertises lower rates if you pay the whole year upfront, and higher ones if you go month to month. Parapho Team is $180 a year if you pay monthly. Even the cheapest DocuSign option for 20 people is many times Parapho's price, because Parapho doesn't charge per seat at all. For the method behind these numbers, see how much e-signature software should cost.
Envelope caps
DocuSign's annual Standard and Business Pro plans include about 100 envelopes per user per year, roughly eight a month. DocuSign counts an envelope when it's sent, whether or not anyone signs it, and envelopes from PowerForms count too. Go over and you pay per envelope. Parapho's Solo and Team plans don't cap envelopes beyond a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 a month per workspace.
API and embedded signing
If you're adding signing to your own product, the gap is wider still.
| Monthly volume | DocuSign API (annual plans) | Parapho API |
|---|---|---|
| 40 envelopes | Starter: $50 a month | $0 (first 100 free) |
| 100 envelopes | Intermediate: $300 a month | $0 |
| 1,000 completed envelopes | Above self-serve allowances: contact sales | $18 a month |
| Embedded signing in your app | Enhanced plan (contact sales) | Included, with embed.js and SDKs |
| Sandbox | Free developer account | Free sk_test_ keys |
Parapho charges only for completed envelopes, so drafts, voided and declined envelopes cost nothing. There's no monthly minimum. More in how to embed e-signatures in your app.
Security
Both products encrypt documents and keep an audit trail. The difference is in the defaults. DocuSign offers two-step verification as an option each user can turn on. Parapho requires two-factor authentication on every account (authenticator app or emailed code), including free ones, so a leaked password alone can't open anyone's documents. Every completed Parapho document is flattened, digitally signed (validated by Adobe Reader) and fingerprinted with SHA-256, and anyone can check a copy without uploading it.

When DocuSign is the better choice
DocuSign has been building for large enterprises for two decades, and it shows. Pick DocuSign if you need:
- Single sign-on through Okta, Entra ID or another identity provider.
- Built-in identity verification of signers, such as ID document checks.
- Conditional routing, notarization or advanced and qualified electronic signatures.
- A large integration catalog with CRM, ERP and storage tools, and a dedicated account team.
- The familiar name, if your customers or counterparties ask for DocuSign specifically.
When Parapho is the better choice
- You have more than one or two people sending documents and don't want to pay for each of them.
- You want bulk send, public form links and reminders without moving to a top-tier plan.
- You're a healthcare practice that needs a HIPAA BAA without an enterprise contract.
- You want mandatory two-factor authentication and verifiable, digitally sealed PDFs on every plan.
- You're a developer who wants to pay per completed envelope with no minimum.
- You sometimes just need to sign a PDF yourself, privately and for free.
Switching from DocuSign
- Download your completed envelopes and their certificates of completion from DocuSign before your plan ends.
- Rebuild your most-used templates in Parapho: upload the same PDF, place the fields and roles, and save. See how to create a reusable contract template.
- Invite your team. On Team, adding people doesn't change the price.
- Send a test envelope to yourself to check the signing experience and your branding.

Frequently asked questions
Is Parapho cheaper than DocuSign?
Yes, for almost every team size. DocuSign Standard is $30 per user a month on an annual plan, so 20 users cost $7,200 a year. Parapho Team is $15 a month or $150 a year for the whole workspace with unlimited users.
Does DocuSign have an envelope limit?
Yes. DocuSign's Standard and Business Pro annual plans include about 100 envelopes per user per year, and an envelope counts when it's sent, whether or not it gets signed. Personal includes 5 a month. Parapho's paid plans are unlimited, subject to fair use of 1,000 envelopes a month per workspace.
Are Parapho signatures as legally binding as DocuSign's?
Both produce simple electronic signatures designed to meet the US ESIGN Act and UETA and EU eIDAS. Parapho records signer consent and a full audit trail, appends a certificate of completion, and seals each completed PDF with a digital signature and a SHA-256 fingerprint.
Can I move my DocuSign templates to Parapho?
Templates can't be imported automatically, but you can upload the same PDFs to Parapho and place the fields again, usually in a few minutes per template. Download your completed DocuSign envelopes and certificates before your plan ends.
When should I choose DocuSign over Parapho?
Choose DocuSign if you need single sign-on, built-in identity verification, conditional routing, notarization or a large catalog of enterprise integrations, or if your counterparties insist on it.
