Cheap DocuSign alternatives: 6 e-signature tools compared on real team prices

Six cheaper DocuSign alternatives compared on what 5 and 20 people pay a year, envelope caps, bulk send, HIPAA and API pricing. Prices checked November 2026.

DocuSign is the default name in e-signatures, and for most small and mid-sized teams it's also the most expensive option. If you're looking for a cheaper DocuSign alternative, the first question isn't which tool has the lowest headline price. It's whether the tool charges for every person who sends documents, and how many documents it lets you send.

This guide compares six alternatives on what a real team pays in a year, the sending limits that push you up a plan, and the features that usually cost extra: bulk send, HIPAA and the API.

Prices are list prices in USD from each company's public pricing page, checked on November 1, 2026, on annual billing (monthly billing costs more), before tax and discounts. We make Parapho, so we've stuck to published numbers and included the cases where another tool is the better buy. Vendors change prices, so check before you buy.

What makes DocuSign expensive

  • Per-user pricing. Standard is $30 per user a month and Business Pro is $45. The bill grows every time someone new needs to send documents.
  • Envelope caps. Annual Standard and Business Pro plans include about 100 envelopes per user per year, counted when they're sent, not when they're signed.
  • Features on higher tiers. Bulk send and web forms need Business Pro; HIPAA and single sign-on need an Enhanced plan through sales.

Every alternative below beats DocuSign on at least one of these. Few beat it on all three.

The alternatives at a glance

Yearly cost on each tool's cheapest paid plan for teams, for 5 and 20 people who send documents:

ParaphoFlat, unlimited usersTeam, $15 a month or $150 a year$150$150Unlimited*

*Unlimited is subject to fair use of up to 1,000 envelopes a month per workspace.

The cheapest rows hide the catch in the last column. signNow's 100 invites a year is about eight a month for the whole team. BoldSign Growth and Zoho Sign Standard cap each person's monthly sending and leave out bulk send. Once you need volume or bulk send, the order changes.

If you need bulk send

Sending one document to dozens of people from a spreadsheet, such as an updated policy, a waiver or an onboarding pack, is the feature that pushes most teams up a tier. Here's the plan you'd need for 20 people:

The six alternatives

1. Parapho: flat pricing with no annual cap

Price: Free (5 envelopes a month), Solo $3 a month or $30 a year for one person, Team $15 a month or $150 a year for unlimited users. API $0.02 per completed envelope, first 100 a month free.

Good for: teams of any size that send documents every week and don't want the bill to grow with headcount. Bulk send, public form links, reminders and unlimited templates are on Solo; branding, roles and a HIPAA BAA are on Team. Every account, including free ones, must use two-factor authentication, and every completed PDF is digitally sealed and verifiable without uploading it.

The catch: no single sign-on, built-in ID verification, notarization or large integration catalog, and no proposal builder. Parapho works with the PDFs you already have.

2. signNow: unlimited users, low cap

Price: Basic $8, Business $15 and Advanced $30 a month on annual billing ($20, $30 and $50 month to month), each with unlimited users. Enterprise is $1.50 per signature invite.

Good for: teams that send a handful of documents a month and want everyone to have access. Bulk send and signing links are on Business.

The catch: annual plans include 100 signature invites per account per year, and monthly plans 10 a month; more cost extra. Custom branding is on Advanced, and a HIPAA BAA is a paid add-on.

3. BoldSign: generous free plan, per-user paid plans

Price: Essential free (25 envelopes a month, 2 templates), Growth $5 and Business $15 per user a month, Premium $99 a month with unlimited users, all on annual billing.

Good for: a single sender with low volume (the free plan covers 25 envelopes a month) and teams that want SSO and HIPAA on a self-serve plan: both are on Business.

The catch: below Premium, it's per user. Growth caps each user at 50 envelopes a month and 10 templates and has no bulk send. Premium covers unlimited users but caps the account at 250 envelopes a month. API access is a separate plan with 40 envelopes a month and $0.75 per envelope after that.

4. Zoho Sign: low per-user prices, best inside Zoho

Price: Free (one user, 5 envelopes a month), Standard $10, Professional $16 and Enterprise $22 per user a month billed annually. API $0.50 per envelope with no commitment.

Good for: teams already on Zoho CRM or Zoho One, and anyone who needs certificate-based digital signatures.

The catch: still per user. Standard caps each user at 25 envelopes a month; unlimited envelopes, unlimited templates and branding start on Professional; bulk send and public SignForms are on Enterprise and use paid credits.

5. Dropbox Sign: simple, but per user

Price: Essentials $15 a month for one person, Standard $25 per user a month for 2 to 5 users, Premium by quote. API from $75 a month for 50 requests.

Good for: small teams that store everything in Dropbox and want a clean signing experience.

The catch: templates are capped at 5 on Essentials and 15 on Standard, and teams over five people need a Premium quote. Full comparison: Parapho vs Dropbox Sign.

6. PandaDoc: for proposals more than signatures

Price: Starter $19 and Business $49 per seat a month, billed annually. API from $40 a month for 40 documents.

Good for: sales teams that build quotes and proposals with pricing tables, content libraries and CRM sync.

The catch: it's not cheaper than DocuSign once you need reminders, branding or unlimited templates, which are all on Business. Bulk send and web forms use paid Usage Credits. Full comparison: Parapho vs PandaDoc.

Which one is cheapest for you?

  • Just you, a few documents a month: BoldSign's free plan (25 a month) or Parapho Free (5 a month). For unlimited sending, Parapho Solo at $30 a year. To sign your own PDFs, Quick Sign is free and never uploads the file.
  • A team sending fewer than 100 documents a year: signNow Basic at $96 a year is the cheapest paid plan.
  • A team sending every week: Parapho Team at $150 a year. Per-user plans cost more from three senders (two on BoldSign Growth is $120 a year, but capped at 50 envelopes each a month with no bulk send), and the other flat plans cap you at 100 a year (signNow) or 250 a month for $1,188 a year (BoldSign Premium).
  • Healthcare: Parapho Team ($15 a month for everyone) or BoldSign Business ($15 per user a month) both include a BAA on a self-serve plan.
  • Developers adding signing to an app: Parapho charges $0.02 per completed envelope with the first 100 a month free; Zoho Sign charges $0.50 per envelope; DocuSign's API starts at $50 a month for 40. See how to add e-signatures to your app.

When to stay with DocuSign

A cheaper tool isn't always the right one. DocuSign still makes sense if you need single sign-on across a large organization, built-in identity verification, notarization, qualified electronic signatures, or deep integrations with enterprise CRM and ERP systems, or if your counterparties insist on it. Our Parapho vs DocuSign comparison goes through it feature by feature.

Switching without losing anything

  1. Export first. Download your completed envelopes and certificates of completion from DocuSign before your plan ends.
  2. Rebuild your top templates. Upload the same PDFs and place the fields again; it usually takes a few minutes each. See how to create a reusable contract template.
  3. Run both for a month if you have envelopes still out for signature, then cancel at renewal.
